Reading recap

It's been a week since I last posted, and while I'd like to spend time reading right now, I thought I'd post a quick update.

I've been busy reading for the Winter's Respite Readathon. It's halfway over now. I finished the second half of Hidden Figures, and then went to the movie on Friday night with my entire family. It was wonderful and I'm glad I shared the story with my kids. The book gets into so much more detail (as usual) but is a little slow. It's still highly recommended. But also see the movie!

I'm now about halfway through No Man's Land by Simon Tolkien. That's what I'm looking forward to getting back to tonight!

At some point this week, I'm going to make time to write a review of a book or two, since I haven't posted a review in a while. I think I'm going to try out a new format this year. I'm going to continue to write detailed reviews of books provided to me for review, but some of the other books I read for pleasure may feature shorter reviews so I can keep up with them this year!

What are you reading?

Book links in this post are Amazon Affiliate links. It's been a while but I'm finally linking up with Book Date for It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

  2. Good idea on the shorter reviews! I may try to do more mini reviews this year, too! I've been hearing so much about Hidden Figures, but I think I'd rather see the movie.

Getting back to blogging

It seems that blogging has dropped to the bottom of my list for the past year, and was pretty low for the year or two prior to that. I love to read, and am continuing to do so, but as my regular readers know I haven't been around much. My last blog post was almost a year ago!!

There are many things that have taken me away from blogging. Work has been much more challenging and interesting these past few years, but that means I really don't want to get back on the computer when I get home at night - or on the weekends.

Family life has been more busy with kids having multiple activities in the evenings, leaving little time to just hang out and write about the books that I read.

I will admit to a bit of a Facebook addiction, which means way too much time spent scrolling through my newsfeed instead of doing something more productive. This is one of the things I'm working on and hoping that this will free up some time for getting back to the blog.

Overall, life is good. Work is …

I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Mundie Moms are hosting the Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop in honor of Independence Day in the United States, and I've decided to participate.

To stick with the theme of Independence Day, I'm doing what I did last year for this hop:
