Week in Review

Good morning. It's been a few weeks since I wrote a week in review. I thought I'd finally catch up with this weekly meme. Life has been busy with my kids finishing up school and starting summer break. There were tons of end of the year things going on. In addition, my job has been very busy lately so I've had little time to write and blog.

Reviews and Blog Posts
I have been keeping up with my weekly Book Club Picks series. Here are links to the last few posts:
Book Club Picks: 20th Century Historical Fiction
Book Club Picks: How Book Clubs Pick Books
Book Club Picks: Summer Reads
Book Club Picks: Memoirs

I also managed to post several reviews:
The Orbital Perspective by Astronaut Ron Garan
Five Night Stand by Richard J. Alley
The Treasure at Devil's Hole by Jody M. Mabry
The Organ Takers by Richard Van Anderson
At the Water's Edge by Sara Gruen

Since the last time I wrote a recap, I finished reading At the Water's Edge. I also read Five Night Stand, referenced above, and All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

Now I'm reading The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. It's good! Next up will be Genius de Milo by Russ Colchamiro and The Cave (The Wind Cave Book 1) by Michela Montgomery.

C read The Treasure at Devil's Hole, referenced above, and wrote a review of it. M has been reading Kristy's Great Idea, the graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier based on the original Baby-Sitters Club novel by Ann M. Martin.

What are you reading this week? It's Monday! is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. Also check out the younger version of It's Monday!

  1. I'll also be reading The Girl on the Train this summer, for my family's online book group...though I'm not sure I will get through my library's wait list in time!

And I just finished The Babysitters Club graphic novel today! I totally missed the series when it first came out (I was out of college by then), so I was interested to read this adaptation. I enjoyed it - hope your daughter does, too!

    2015 Big Book Summer Challenge

    1. The Girl on the Train is our July book. I'm looking forward to discussing it!

I never read the original Baby-sitters Club books either. I haven't read this one but M loved it.

The contest ends on Thursday, July 5th at midnight Eastern Time. The winner will be notified by e-mail. If they do not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

Getting back to blogging

It seems that blogging has dropped to the bottom of my list for the past year, and was pretty low for the year or two prior to that. I love to read, and am continuing to do so, but as my regular readers know I haven't been around much. My last blog post was almost a year ago!!

There are many things that have taken me away from blogging. Work has been much more challenging and interesting these past few years, but that means I really don't want to get back on the computer when I get home at night - or on the weekends.

Family life has been more busy with kids having multiple activities in the evenings, leaving little time to just hang out and write about the books that I read.

I will admit to a bit of a Facebook addiction, which means way too much time spent scrolling through my newsfeed instead of doing something more productive. This is one of the things I'm working on and hoping that this will free up some time for getting back to the blog.

Overall, life is good. Work is …
