Week in Review

We had an unusual, but fun, week. Both kids had camping trips. C did an overnight trip to a 4-H camp with his 5th grade class. They had a blast and it sounds like they actually learned some things too! Then my husband and M went camping with the Y-Guides tribe over the weekend. It was a fun week for all.

Saturday Snapshot: A Day in My Life

Reading
I finished reading Not Without My Father: One Woman's 444-Mile Walk of the Natchez Trace by Andra Watkins and even wrote the review. But it won't be published until tomorrow for the tour, so check back to see what I thought (hint: I liked it!). I then started reading The Orbital Perspective by Astronaut Ron Garan. It's quite interesting but a little dry, so I needed a break by Friday. I picked up Me Before You by Jojo Moyes and WOW! I just finished it this morning. I should have read that a while ago.

C has been making his way through the H.G. Wells books in the collection we have. Since reading The Time Machine for his novel study in February, he has now also read The War of the Worlds and The Invisible Man. He's about halfway through The Island of Dr. Moreau now.

M finished The Best Friend Battle (Sylvie Scruggs #1) by Lindsay Eyre and is now reading The Chocolate Lab by Eric Luper.

    I'm glad the kids had fun camping! In my opinion, the best camping trip is one that Mom doesn't have to go on! :)

    Everyone and their mother seem to adore Jojo Moyes. I should probably pick up one of her books soon!

      I feel the same way about camping trips as you do! I enjoyed my big comfy bed and yummy dinners out.

      Yes, do try one of her books. Me Before You is a tearjerker. It was my second of hers. I also read One Plus One, which was a great story and not nearly as emotionally charged.

    Oh, I loved Me Before You...and have enjoyed several other books by this author. I noticed that a sequel called After You is coming in a few months.

      Yes, I've been wanting to read the book before I read anything at all about that sequel! Luckily, it was picked as a book club selection for this month.

    I'm glad you read and loved Me Before You. I absolutely loved that book! Jojo Moyes' style is quite addicting.

    Me Before You has been on my TBR list ever since it was published! Really want to get to it - they're making it into a movie that is supposed to be released this year.

    C has a great idea! When I listened to The Time Machine on audio last year, it was my first-ever HG Wells and I would love to read more of his classics! Like you, I think we have most of them here in the house somewhere.

      I've been anxious for him to finish reading the last story because I'd like to read them myself. The four stories are in one book so I've had to wait for him to finish!

    I haven't heard of Jojo Moyes before today. After reading your post and the comments here, I figure I better fix that. The Best Friend Battle is one of the books at our book fair this week. I'm wondering what M thought of it.

      M really enjoyed The Best Friend Battle. She's not a big reader, although she's gotten better, but she definitely looked forward to reading that one each day.
