Saturday Snapshot: A Day in My Life

Yesterday, I participated in an Instagram challenge hosted by @kristinagrum to document an entire day in my life. Using the hashtag #fulldays, we shared a photo just about every hour of the day. I thought it would be fun to share my photos today with Saturday Snapshot, which is hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads. Enjoy!

8:00am - Kids are up and eating, getting ready for school.

Starting my workday in my home office with some coffee and a brand new to do list.

On Friday mornings I volunteer at the school doing a literature circle with second graders.
We're reading Bunnicula.

Work, work, work.

Lunch break! Ham and pickle on a sandwich thin with Goldfish and seltzer.

Worked on a blog post (this one!!!) during lunch.

Still working away. This is the view out my office window.
Trees are getting their leaves and the pine pollen is collecting on the pond.

Walked through a swirl of pollen to get to the bus stop. I could feel it in my lungs!!

5:00pm - Work is done so it's time to read!

8:00pm -  Spent the past 2 hours at Carrabbas and forgot to take pics! Now listening to this guy practice piano.

Got one kid to bed. The other is camping with dad. Checking out Facebook before settling down with my book!
Decided I needed a change so started Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.

11:47pm - Just one more chapter ...

At 1:10am, I finally stopped reading and went to bed!! That one more chapter turned into five, which is pretty typical. This was a lot of fun. I'm so glad I joined in yesterday and plan to do something similar again in the future.

If you're on Instagram, come follow me and I'll follow you back!

  1. Bunnicula!! What a blast from the past, ha!
Very impressed with your little guy's posture at the piano. :)

    1. I have to admit I had never heard of it. I don't know how I missed it!

  2. Thanks for sharing your day. Sounds like you kept busy!
My Saturday Snapshot post is HERE.

  3. That is a fun sharing. I really need to master Instagram. I just need to jump in and do it!

  4. A fun picture post. Good to fit in reading to such a busy day.

  5. What an interesting project. The photo that most hit home was your son at the piano. Looks just like the piano etc that are right behind me.

  6. I love those day posts. It is so much fun seeing how others spend their days. It makes me feel more connected in a way.

Enjoy Me Before You! It is an amazing book!

  7. Great post! I participated in a Day in the Life blog event recently and also enjoyed it. Looks like you had a good day - I've really been wanting to read Me Before You, for years now!

    Book By Book

  8. I loved this post! What a great way to share the day...and your office looks so neat! LOL

    Enjoy another day today.

Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop

I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Mundie Moms are hosting the Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop in honor of Independence Day in the United States, and I've decided to participate.

To stick with the theme of Independence Day, I'm doing what I did last year for this hop:

I'm giving away a book of your choice that is written by an author from the United States.
It can be any genre as long as the author is from the United States. You choose the book (up to $15), and I'll order it and have it mailed to you from Book Depository.

The contest ends on Thursday, July 5th at midnight Eastern Time. The winner will be notified by e-mail. If they do not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

Happy 4th of July! I hope you have a safe and fun holiday!

Getting back to blogging

It seems that blogging has dropped to the bottom of my list for the past year, and was pretty low for the year or two prior to that. I love to read, and am continuing to do so, but as my regular readers know I haven't been around much. My last blog post was almost a year ago!!

There are many things that have taken me away from blogging. Work has been much more challenging and interesting these past few years, but that means I really don't want to get back on the computer when I get home at night - or on the weekends.

Family life has been more busy with kids having multiple activities in the evenings, leaving little time to just hang out and write about the books that I read.

I will admit to a bit of a Facebook addiction, which means way too much time spent scrolling through my newsfeed instead of doing something more productive. This is one of the things I'm working on and hoping that this will free up some time for getting back to the blog.

Overall, life is good. Work is …
