I'm joining up with Saturday Snapshot, which is hosted by West Metro Mommy Reads. I decided to take pictures out my office window starting at the beginning of the week, when I knew the forecast called for ice and snow.
If you live anywhere that actually gets snow on a regular basis, you are probably laughing about my kids having snow days for this little bit of snow and ice. But many of the little, wooded side roads are still a sheet of ice, several days after the initial storm. We were lucky enough to have a plow come through our street and so we've been able to get out and about. But in other parts of the county, it just wasn't safe for the buses. They better go back to school on Monday!
This was the view out my window on Monday before the storm...
We started to get some sleet and ice, which landed on the frozen bits of the pond...

I understand about the ice. We got about 4 inches of snow this week but it was the ice that kept us all housebound for a while. I tried to get to work the day after the storm and got both vehicles stuck within 200ft of the house. Hopefully the kids can get back to school soon.

I love the pictures... here comes the snow. It is still not too bad here in Central Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures....!!
ReplyDeleteHere is my snapshot post!
Julie, I'm guessing you live in the south somewhere! Our college closed on Thursday and Friday for the cold with -13. Today we're getting bundles of snow, but at least it isn't Boston! Hope your kids go back to school soon. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your series of photos, showing the gradual accumulation of snow. I've always lived in areas where we sometimes have a winter without snow, so local governments aren't equipped to deal with it. Why would they spend money on snowplows that they might not need for years? So I understand how it doesn't take much snow to result in a day off from school. I hope it has melted by now!

What a lovely view you have, and interesting to compare the photos.
ReplyDeleteha ha - yes, I was laughing at 4 snow days when the grass is still showing! lol It's not much different from that here in Delaware, but I grew up in the snow belt, in Rochester, NY. It was much the same here last week - Monday was President's Day, then my son had two days off - one for snow and one for cold when it got below zero. I am looking forward to a full school week coming up (hopefully)!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the pics showing the progression of the ice are very cool - great idea!

A fun series of photos, I'm in Australia we get the occasional snow fall where I live, but it doesn't usually settle.
