Big Book Summer Challenge

2014 Big Book Summer Challenge

I've decided to join in the 2014 Big Book Summer Challenge hosted by Sue at Book By Book. Here are the details:
  • Anything over 400 pages qualifies as a big book.
  • The challenge will run from Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26 this year) through Labor Day weekend (Labor Day is September 1 this year).
  • Choose one or two or however many big books you want as your goal.  Wait, did you get that?  You only need to read 1 book with over 400 pages this summer to participate! (though you are welcome to read more, if you want).
Last night, I finished Insurgent by Veronica Roth, which qualifies as my first big book of the summer! Yay! I have a few others on my shelf that would qualify as well, so I need to choose which ones I'll read this summer. I haven't done that yet. I'll keep track of my progress here.

Big books completed during summer:

1. Insurgent by Veronica Roth
2. Honolulu by Alan Brennert
3. The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell by Chris Colfer
4. The Beach House by Mary Alice Monroe

  1. Ooh I joined this challenge too! :) I haven't started my big books yet, waiting for my last exam to finish tomorrow. I didn't realise how big Insurgent was till I looked it up now. Respect! I hope you enjoy any of the other big reads you pick up this summer!

I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Mundie Moms are hosting the Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop in honor of Independence Day in the United States, and I've decided to participate. To stick with the theme of Independence Day, I'm doing what I did last year for this hop: I'm giving away a book of your choice that is written by an author from the United States. It can be any genre as long as the author is from the United States. You choose the book (up to $15), and I'll order it and have it mailed to you from Book Depository . The contest ends on Thursday, July 5th at midnight Eastern Time. The winner will be notified by e-mail. If they do not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn. Happy 4th of July!
