Well, I did it. I finished my first read-a-thon. And I read about as much as I had planned to, even though I didn't think I'd make it when I put up my last update at midnight last night. After that, I got ready for bed and decided to at least check out my next book and see if it would keep me up. I ended up reading for another 1 1/2 hours! So I officially ended my read-a-thon participation at 2am. Luckily, my husband was nice enough to get up with the kids this morning so I got to stay in bed until 9:30!
Here's how I did:
Adult books read: 1 1/2
Picture books/early readers: 12
Adult book pages read: 323
Hours reading: 6
One of my goals was to read for an hour with the kids, and I did. I did not get through as many books as I had hoped, but I'm just glad to have finished Little Bee and gotten far enough into Back to the Homeplace that I should finish that within a few days. I'm definitely ahead of my reading schedule now since I hadn't planned for this read-a-thon.
Overall, it was a good experience, even though it was a bit frustrating trying to fit in the time to read. Maybe next time I'll plan ahead and have someone watch the kids all day!

Ah, that's how you managed with the kids - you read to them for part of the time! Excellent - fun an a good strategy!
