It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Good Monday Morning! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I got some reading done and I got a few reviews done, although they were all children's book reviews. This week, I have a few adult books to review.

I finally read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls last week. I have had this book on my shelf for almost two years now, and I have always wanted to read it. I just never got around to it. I'm glad I finally did. Not only did I enjoy it, but I also am glad to be rid of it in a sense. Do you ever feel that way? I have a few books that have been on my shelf for so long, it's like a burden knowing they're there. They are all books I want to read, but I just never get around to them for some reason. Anyway, I can finally take The Glass Castle off that list! You can click on the title to see my review.

I published two children's book reviews this week. The first was Glamour Girl from the Stars by Carlton Scott. The second was Chalk by Bill Thomson. I also published my What My Children Are Reading this week. So if you're looking for some recommendations to read with your kids, check out those posts!

I completed the Spring Reading Thing, which was hosted by Katrina at Callapidder Days. As I mentioned last week, I've decided to host a Summer Reading Challenge. It's starting today, so check back later this morning and join me! All you have to do is put up a post with a list of books you want to read this summer, and then link up.

Currently Reading

What are you reading this week? This meme is being hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, so hop over there if you'd like to see what others are reading too.

  1. I haven't read Glass Castle. I have heard the whole world talk about it.:) I'm always the late comer or late bloomer.

  2. I have had books like that and have a bunch staring at me right now that it will feel good to get read. I'll have to check out Glass Castle - I must admit I haven't heard of it. Have a great week. Thanks for reminding me I need to finish up the Spring Reading Thing too!

  5. The Glass castle was such an amazing book! I read it for a book group a coupe of years ago. She just wrote a sequel (sorry to tell you that when you finally got through the first one!)

I know just what you mean - I always have stacks of books on my shelf waiting but certain ones just don't seem to budge off the shelf. My biggest shame is that I've never read any Jane Austen. At least 3 years ago, I bought a copy of Emma...and I still haven't read it! I brought it with me on vacation but haven't gotten to it yet...

  6. I know what you mean about getting rid of a book. I have books like that - they mock me from my shelf where they've sat for years until I finally make time to read them. :) Have a wonderful week!

Getting back to blogging

It seems that blogging has dropped to the bottom of my list for the past year, and was pretty low for the year or two prior to that. I love to read, and am continuing to do so, but as my regular readers know I haven't been around much. My last blog post was almost a year ago!!

There are many things that have taken me away from blogging. Work has been much more challenging and interesting these past few years, but that means I really don't want to get back on the computer when I get home at night - or on the weekends.

Family life has been more busy with kids having multiple activities in the evenings, leaving little time to just hang out and write about the books that I read.

I will admit to a bit of a Facebook addiction, which means way too much time spent scrolling through my newsfeed instead of doing something more productive. This is one of the things I'm working on and hoping that this will free up some time for getting back to the blog.

Overall, life is good. Work is …

Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop

I Am A Reader, Not A Writer and Mundie Moms are hosting the Freedom to Read Giveaway Hop in honor of Independence Day in the United States, and I've decided to participate.

To stick with the theme of Independence Day, I'm doing what I did last year for this hop:

I'm giving away a book of your choice that is written by an author from the United States.
It can be any genre as long as the author is from the United States. You choose the book (up to $15), and I'll order it and have it mailed to you from Book Depository.

The contest ends on Thursday, July 5th at midnight Eastern Time. The winner will be notified by e-mail. If they do not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

Happy 4th of July! I hope you have a safe and fun holiday!
