It's been over two weeks since my last blog post, three weeks since my last book review and a month since my last reading update. I guess you could say I took a bit of an unplanned hiatus from blogging. I have not, however, taken a break from reading. I may not be updating here or on social media, but I have kept up with reading. I've also been busy with a new project at work, which is my biggest excuse for the lack of blogging, family and all the bustle that goes along with the holiday season.
I doubt I'll be blogging a lot over these next few weeks either, but I do have plans for 2016, and intend to get back to regular blogging, even if that's just a couple posts a week. I have several books that I need to review from this year still, and already have four reviews scheduled over the first four months of the new year.
Now on to my reading update. Over the past month, I found time to read:
The Art of Language Invention by David J. Peterson (you can read my review here)
Faithful Place by Tana French
The War of Gifts by Orson Scott Card
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The kids have also been reading a lot this past month. M is now about halfway done with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She was very excited to watch The Goblet of Fire movie a few weeks ago when she finished that book. We have a deal that she can watch each movie in the series if she reads the book first.
Carter has been reading a lot as well. He finished the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness and How to Fight a Dragon's Fury by Cressida Cowell (he was excited to see this 12th book in the series available at the library). Then he read Everlost by Neal Shusterman. He really liked that one so he wants to read more in the series. We also borrowed Airborn by Kenneth Oppel and Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz from the library, but he hasn't read those yet.
I'm currently reading the last book in the Chaos Walking series: Monsters of Men. I had read the first two a couple years ago and have been wanting to finish the series. I figure that I should do that since my 11 year old managed to finish it before me! After that is a review book: The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee. I'll have a giveaway of that one in January as well.
