Weekly Reading Recap

Good morning. I hope you've had a good week. I had a nice one but today is gray and rainy. I'm hoping the sun is back out tomorrow! At least it's warm here, though.

Recent Reviews and Other Posts
Last week, I didn't post much. I thought I'd get a review written, but I didn't manage to, so it's on my list for this week!

I did publish an interview with author Rena Fruchter. That's it, though!

What I'm Reading
I finished reading The Forever Year by Lou Aronica. This was a lovely story about the relationship between a man and his father, intertwined with two different love stories.

I'm currently reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. It's an eye-opening look at the food we eat. It makes me glad that I buy almost all of my meat from a local farm!!

What C is Reading
C is in a bit of a funk with reading. I need to find something to peak his interest! We went to the library and he ended up choosing a couple Secrets of Droon books by Tony Abbott. This is a series that he read about a year and a half ago. It's a great story about some kids who go to a fantasy land and have lots of adventures. It's a nice entry into fantasy novels; this is the series that started C off into things like Septimus Heap and Percy Jackson.

What M is Reading
I go into M's class once a week to work with a small group of kids, including M, on extra projects. This week, we are talking about clouds, so I got some books from the library on the topic. We read Little Cloud by Eric Carle. This is a cute story about a cloud who goes out on his own and turns into all sorts of interesting shapes before rejoining the rest of the clouds.

We also read The Cloud Book by Tomie dePaola, which is a great one if you want to teach kids the different types of clouds ~ which is why we read it. It talks about all of the different types of clouds, what they look like and what weather they indicate. The kids really enjoyed it, and were able to use the pictures in the book to draw their own clouds.

Up Next for Me
Once I finish Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, I'll be moving on to The Color of Greed by Jack Thompson. In addition, I'll be spending some time this week writing reviews so I don't get backed up again!

What are you reading this week? It's Monday! is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, so hop over there if you'd like to see what others are reading too.Want to see more children's book reviews? Check out the Children's Bookshelf.

    1. It's a fun topic to talk about with the kids too! Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I very much enjoyed the Kingsolver book. It really makes you think, doesn't it? And so nice that the book was a kind of family project.

    Have a good week!

    1. Yes, it really does make you think. You have a good week too!

  3. You might consider the Charlie Bone series for C. Both of my sons loved it - even the one who says he hates reading!! Might be just right for pulling out of a reading funk. Spiderwick Chronicles was very good, too.

Sounds like you're reading some good books lately!

Enjoy your reading this week -
